Numerous renewable energy and captive power companies, including Tata Power, ReNew Power, Vena Energy Renewables, and Torrent Power, have invested in the Dholera Solar Park located within the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat. KPI Green Energy and Adani Green Energy also have significant investments in Gujarat's renewable energy sector, with projects that could serve captive power needs.

Investments in Dholera and Gujarat

Tata Power: Commissioned a 300 MW solar plant in Dholera with India's largest single-axis solar tracker system. Tata is also a key developer for the larger 5,000 MW Dholera Solar Park project.

ReNew Power: Secured bids for projects within the Dholera Solar Park and is developing a 4 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility there, supported by international investment.

Vena Energy Renewables, SJVN, and Torrent Power: Have all secured bids to develop projects within the Dholera Solar Park to increase its capacity.

KPI Green Energy: A Gujarat-based company that serves captive power producers and has a proven track record in solar and hybrid renewable energy solutions. It operates under the brand 'Solarism' and focuses on providing end-to-end solutions for captive power projects.

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL): Although primarily focused on the massive 30 GW Khavda Renewable Energy Park in Kutch, AGEL is a major renewable energy player in Gujarat with significant solar and wind power projects that could be used for captive power.

Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL): A government entity that acts as the nodal agency for solar parks in Gujarat, including Charanka, which hosts numerous developers.

Reliance Industries: Another major investor in Gujarat, exploring opportunities in renewable energy including solar and hydrogen projects, which could involve captive power aspects.

Relevance to Captive Power

These investments are relevant to captive power needs because projects within the Dholera Solar Park and other Gujarat parks, as well as those developed by companies like KPI Green Energy and Adani, can be used for captive consumption. Gujarat's Renewable Energy Policy encourages this by allowing projects to be set up for captive use, third-party sales, or sales to state-run power distribution companies (DISCOMs). Solar-plus-storage solutions are also an integral part of Gujarat's overall renewable energy strategy to ensure a stable power supply
