Taiwanese firms involved in investment and MoUs in the Dholera semiconductor ecosystem include Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), Himax Technologies, and Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology (TSMT).
Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC): PSMC is the key technology partner for Tata Electronics' flagship ₹91,000 crore (about $11 billion) semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera. A definitive agreement and a fiscal support agreement have been signed for this project, which aims to produce chips for mobile devices, electric vehicles, 5G, defense, and AI applications.
Himax Technologies: A tripartite agreement was signed between Tata Electronics, PSMC, and Himax Technologies to produce display semiconductors at the Dholera facility.
Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology (TSMT): TSMT signed an MoU with the Gujarat government to establish an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) unit in the state with an investment exceeding ₹500 crore.
Another major investment in Gujarat is by Micron Technology, a US-based firm, which is setting up its Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) plant in Sanand, an industrial hub in the Ahmedabad district, which is separate from the Dholera fab project.
These collaborations are part of a broader push to establish a robust semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India, with Dholera envisioned as a major hub.
